Vermonster 2008,

 The name of my sculpture “Plant Your Poles” is a phrase used by ski instructors when teaching a skier how to make turns. I have taken the above term literally as inspiration to create a whimsical pot of ski pole “plants”.

The recycled objects used to create my sculpture: old skis and ski poles, broken dishes, doorknobs and other bibelots, were gathered at Vermont flea markets, tag sales and donated by local skiers.

            The mosaic design on the concrete flower pot is a technique called “Picque Assiette”* This is the art of creating mosaic designs with pieces of broken china on almost anything

I hope my art reflects the challenge and fun I have exploring and manipulating objects and ideas in new and creative ways.
